The City of Hopkinsville is adopting a 52 million dollar budget for next fiscal year. Wednesday night, City Council voted to approve the first reading of the 2024-2025 budget with no discussion. Members also approved an almost 2.4 million dollar capital budget. The approvals came after voting to amend the 2023-2024 budget up by 4 million dollars to 54 million.
City Council also voted to approve the bond sales for Fire Station 5.
Second readings for the budgets as well as the bond sales will be in June.
Meanwhile, Chief Financial Officer Melissa Clayton reported on the monthly financials saying Payroll collection remains up.
Property tax collection is at 5.6 million dollars or 108.7 percent of the budget.
