Family, Friends Celebrate Youth Art Month

Artwork from over 200 students is currently gracing the walls of the Alhambra Theatre. The exhibit is part of the National Youth Art Month celebration, with Arts Education Coordinator Molly Campbell saying the pieces have been hanging all month.

click to download audioFamily and friends of the young artists packed the house Wednesday evening for the reception and ceremony to recognize each student’s accomplishments. Christian County Superintendent Chris Bentzel says he looks forward to the event every year.

click to download audioThe Youth Art Month Exhibit will remain up at the Alhambra through the end of March. The reception and ceremony were sponsored by the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club.

To close the event, Campbell announced the second year of the Barbara Gardner Scholarships.

click to download audioGardner was a local artist and retired teacher. The scholarship funds came from the sale of Gardner’s artwork following her passing. Applications at pennyroyalarts.org open March 29 and will close April 29. Awardees will be notified May 6.
