Students in Trigg County to Return to Class August 26

The start date for students at Trigg County Public Schools will now be a week later than what was originally approved in February, after action during a special called meeting Thursday evening.

Director of Personnel and Student Services James Mangels told board members this change comes after switching to a variable student instructional year.

The newly approved calendar shows that flexible professional development and growth days will take place between August 14 to 21. Opening day for staff will be Monday, August 24 and students will return on Wednesday, August 26.

Mangels added the original dates for breaks will not change, with the closing day for students now set for May 28, 2021, and June 1, 2021, for teachers.

In other updates, Mangels said online registration will start very soon.

He added more information will be forthcoming.

In other news, Superintendent Bill Thorpe told board members the district is continuing to work on the plan to return back to the classroom.

The next Trigg County school board meeting will take place Thursday, July 23 at 6:00 PM, barring any need for a separate meeting for the elementary school renovation project.
