Michigan Family Killed In I-75 Crash

A Michigan family died in a fiery traffic crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 75 near Lexington.

According to media reports, the family was returning from a Florida vacation when their vehicle was hit head-on by a man who was driving south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75.

The Fayette County Coroner identified the victims as 42-year-old Issam Abbas, his wife 38year-old Dr. Rima Abbas and their children 14-year-old Ali Abbas, 14-year-old Isabella Abbas, and 7-year-old Gisell Abbas. The driver of the truck that was traveling the wrong way on the interstate, 41-year-old Joey Lee Bailey of Georgetown, KY, was also killed in the crash. The coroner said Bailey was thought to be driving under the influence, with toxicology results pending.
