Police say an attempted traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration plates turned into a pursuit that landed two people behind bars, while the driver is still at large.

Madisonville Police report multiple officers and deputies engaged in the pursuit that led to an address on Sugar Creek Road where the driver of the vehicle, 36-year old Charles Cowen, then turned off onto a dirt road and continued to flee until he stopped at a ravine. Cowen and a female passenger, 35-year old Dorene Yates, fled from the vehicle but Yates surrendered when she was told a K-9 unit was on the scene. However, police say Cowen remain undetected and fled into a wooded area and is still at large. Police report another passenger, 36-year old Woodburne Moore, also surrendered to officers at the scene.
