Heavy rainfall in the Nashville basin over the last couple of days will affect the lake level at Lake Barkley the next couple of days, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

With more rain expected over the next couple of days, Kayl Kite with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says in a post on social media that discharges at multiple Cumberland River Dams have been increased. He notes this will result in the Lake Barkley elevation rising to summer pool by early next week. Kite adds the Barkley tailwater is currently 333 feet Above Mean Sea Level (AMSL) and could potentially rise another one to two feet over the next couple of days.

In Clarksville, the National Weather Service reports the Cumberland River is in “action” stage after the water level crested at 42.96 feet around 3:00 Wednesday morning, which is about 3 feet below the 46-foot flood stage.
