A one-vehicle accident injured four people and closed a county highway for several hours Monday evening.

Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis says rescue crews responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident on Highway 514 near the intersection of Red Hill Road in Caldwell County at around five.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a one ton pickup truck lost control in the curve near the intersection before over-correcting and hitting a tree across the roadway. When rescue crews arrived on the scene all five occupants, whose names have not been released, were out of the vehicle.

Four occupants were transported to hospitals in Paducah for potentially serious injuries but no more information about their condition is known at this time. The fifth occupant refused treatment.

The roadway was closed to traffic for just over two hours as crews worked to clear the site.

Princeton Fire and Rescue was assisted at the scene by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County EMS, Trigg County EMS, and Crittenden County EMS.
