Suspect Apprehended After High Speed Chase In Trigg County

A suspect is in custody after leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 24 in Trigg County.

No details have been released, but according to emergency traffic the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police were involved in the pursuit that began in the eastbound lanes around 11:00 near the 40 mile-marker near the Kuttawa-Eddyville exit.  Kentucky State Police attempted to stop the vehicle with spike strips near the 44 mile-marker and the 63 mile-marker.  The white vehicle that officials said was being driven by a black male was stopped after a spike strips were deployed by officials near the 66 mile-marker, about one mile east of the US 68 interchange at Cadiz.

Reports indicate the pursuit reached speeds of more than 120 miles per hour, with the chase coming to an end when the front tires of the vehicle dissentegrated after apparently running over spike strips.  After the vehicle was stopped in the median of the interstate, state police and the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department surrounded the car and took the suspect into custody.
