The Human Rights Commission and Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County will host The Compassion Club: Building Belonging with Books, a book club focused on works by diverse authors. The Compassion Club will also meet on the second Tuesday at 6pm at the Pennyroyal Area Museum. Books will mirror the taste and experience from our Supper Club.
Books Featured
September 14: Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie
November 9: The Taste of Sugar by Marisel Vera
January 11, 2024: The World to Come by Dara Horn
Join the Compassion Club for $50.00 for all six sessions and receive all six books with a retail value of $90.00. However, you may secure a copy on your own and join us for the conversation at no cost.
The Supper Club and Compassion Club are designed to build community belonging. Sharing conversations over books and a meal is a great way to bring people together to share their culture, rituals, and traditions. With compassion at heart and a journey with history, our goal is to build a community that understands and promotes cross-cultural dialogue with our neighbors.
