The Annual Torchlight Tales
October 19 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The Annual Torchlight Tales event will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday,
October 19, 2024 at Jeffers Bend Environmental Center with about 300 people expected
to participate. The mothers, dads, children, grandparents, and others in attendance will sit
around a campfire to enjoy the Bell Witch Story as told by local historian William Turner,
and Wayne Goolsby, Educator and Storyteller.
• This year’s Torchlight Tales event will include for the fourth time, the Bell Witch
Costume Affair in which children of all ages and adults will dress in various Halloween
type clothing. That being said, all participants will receive a gift bag for participation.
• Prior to, during, and after the Bell Witch story, the attendees will be served hot chocolate,
homemade cookies and s’mores.
• While the Bell Witch Story is being told, several individuals in Bell Witch attire and
period clothing from the 1800’s, will interact with the crowd.
• The participants will bring their own lawn chairs and blankets for seating and to keep
warm.
• The event is sponsored by the Pennyrile RC&D Area Council, Inc., Jeffers Bend Steering
Committee, Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority, the Bank of Cadiz, TGASK, and
Foster, Soyars and Associates.
