A high-speed pursuit that started in Oak Grove ended in Hopkinsville Saturday night.
Kentucky State Police say they attempted to stop an SUV driven by 38-year-old Devonte Wolterding for speeding near exit 89, and he fled, reaching speeds of over 100 mph before hitting a trooper’s vehicle on Pennyrile Parkway.
The pursuit came to an end on the Pennyrile Parkway overpass for Eagle Way.
Three vehicles in the opposite lane collided due to traffic slowing for the pursuit. A female driver of one of the cars was reportedly treated and transported by Hopkinsville EMS to Jennie Stuart Health for injuries.
Wolterding and a passenger in his SUV 32-year-old Dacey McCarthy were both arrested after Wolterding fled on foot, a short distance before being taken into custody.
Wolterding is charged with receiving stolen property, trafficking cocaine, DUI, third-degree assault of a police officer, first and third-degree fleeing or evading police, and several traffic violations.
McCarthy is charged with receiving stolen property and trafficking cocaine.
