Hopkinsville Council Approves 2024 Tax Rate

2024-2025 Hopkinsville City Tax Bills will go out soon with the final approval of tax rates by City Council. Tuesday night, the second reading of the tax rate passed with no discussion.

City officials took the compensating rate of 20.9 cents per 100 dollars assessed value. This will be a tax decrease for most property owners, but it will bring in the same amount of revenue for the city as in the previous fiscal year.

Meanwhile, the bids for Rotary Park were discussed. Chief Financial Officer Melissa Clayton says they received two bids.

click to download audioIn other business, City Council approved declaring the L&N Depot building on East 9th Street surplus property. The city will advertise the sale and take sealed bids. A requirement of any work on the building will be that its historical and architectural features be preserved.
