Man Charged With Assaulting His Girlfriend

A Hopkinsville man was charged after he assaulted his girlfriend and ran from law enforcement on Boales Street Sunday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 23-year-old Zachary Gillingham got into a fight with his girlfriend over her phone and hit her several times.

He reportedly assaulted three other people as they attempted to break up the fight between him and his girlfriend.

Police say he fled on foot into a wood line before going into a creek. He was reportedly located by a law enforcement K9.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, second-degree criminal mischief, two counts of first-degree strangulation, and two counts of fourth-degree assault.
