James Donald Lyon, 80, of Bowling Green and formerly of Pembroke, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Hospice House in Bowling Green. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church in Fairview. Rev. Jonathon Arvin and Rev. Terry Joiner will officiate and burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be at Bethel Baptist Church from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, August 23, 2024. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family with the care of their loved one.
Mr. Lyon was born on July 25, 1944, in Fairview, the son of the late James Howard and Marian Henderson Lyon. Mr. Lyon was a middle school math teacher for 27 years at Christian County Middle School. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Grace Latham.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Katherine Stephenson Lyon of Bowling Green; his son, Joseph “Joe” Ralph Lyon (Abigail) of Bowling Green; his brother Howard Lee Lyon (Sherry) of Russellville; and his grandson Parker James Lyon.
The family requests that instead of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 8487 W. Jefferson Davis Hwy, Fairview, Ky 42221.
