James Chambers, 82, of Hopkinsville

James Clayton Chambers, 82, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 7:47 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Goulet officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Hopkinsville, KY he was born July 10, 1942, the son of the late Walter Thomas Chambers and Wilma Leona Rittenberry Chambers. He worked as a lineman for South Central Bell and Bellsouth, where he would then retire from AT&T after 42 years. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother T.C. Chambers.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Patsy Marie Pendley Chambers; his sons: James Clayton “Buzz” (Tracy) Chambers II of Franklin, TN, and Travis (Van) Chambers of Bellevue, TN; his daughter: Melanie (Scott) Chambers Fields of Bellevue, TN; his brothers: Gayle Ray (Brenda) Chambers of Hopkinsville, KY and Charles Allen “Chuck” (Saranne) Chambers of Hopkinsville, KY; his grandchildren: Mallory Fields, Cameron Chambers, Brennan Chambers, Ava McClintick, Finn Chambers, and James Burton Chambers.
