Durwood Stevens, 82, of Hopkinsville

Funeral services for 82-year-old Durwood Stevens, of Hopkinsville and a native of Cadiz, will be 1 PM Wednesday at Lamb Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Peaceful Meadows Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 AM until the service hour.

Survivors include:
His sons, Tony Merrick, of Eminence, Missouri, Stony (Tammy) Merrick, of Fairview;
His sisters, Virginia Dawson, of Louisville, Nancy Clark, of Trigg County, Joanne Rose, of Cadiz;
Four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Rev. Mike Humphries is officiating.

He died Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Hospice House, Bowling Green, of natural causes.

He was born January 19, 1942, the son of late Irvin Jefferson “Dude” Stevens and Lora McAlister Stevens.

He served in the United States Navy and was an inspector at ICC and CSX Railroad for 35 years. He was a member of Sinking Fork Baptist Church. He was a member of VFW Post 1913 and Silver Sneakers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara Mae Owen Stevens; his daughter, Connie Walker; his brothers, J.D. Stevens, Homer Stevens, Charles Stevens, and Layton Stevens; and his sisters, Elizabeth Oliver, Norine Hall, Allene “Dooter” Blanks, and Edith Noel.
