Funeral Service for 80-year-old Jane Ellen Craighead Sundberg of Hopkinsville will be at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Hiseville Cemetery in Hiseville, KY.
Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 4:00 PM until the service hour at 6:00 PM.
Jane Ellen Craighead Sundberg passed away at her home on Friday, July 26, 2024.
Jane Ellen was born on July 22, 1944, in Glasgow, KY, the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Story Craighead. She graduated from Hiseville High School in 1962, Lindsey Wilson College in 1964, and Western Kentucky University in 1966 with degrees in elementary education. Jane Ellen spent her career teaching at several Christian County schools including, Indian Hills Elementary, Pembroke Elementary, Booker T. Washington Middle School, and North Drive Middle School. She was a member of Hopkinsville First United Methodist Church since returning to Hopkinsville in 1977. She was also a member of ADK–Educator’s Group.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dan Sundberg of Hopkinsville; her two daughters, Mary K. (Roger) Byrd of College Grove, TN, Lee Ellen (Chris) Whitefield of Spring Hill, TN; her grandchildren, Ada and Cullen Whitefield; her sister, Lou (Bill) Walthall of Seabrook Island, SC; her niece, Anne (Tom) Fisher of Charlotte, NC; and her great niece Avery Fisher.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Kentucky United Methodist Children’s Homes (kyumh.org) or Pennyroyal Hospice at 220 Burley Avenue Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
