Former Christian County pitcher Broden Kellum overcame injury and illness throughout his career to compete for the Colonels, and on Tuesday he signed to continue his baseball journey with Shawnee Community College.
After returning from surgery following his freshman season only to miss the next two campaigns due to a serious illness, Kellum sported a miniscule 1.15 ERA over 23 innings to earn the team’s Most Outstanding Pitcher Award as a senior. He struck out 23 batters and issued only five walks on the way to a 3-1 record.
Kellum joins teammate Bobby Irving to bolster a Saints team that struggled to a 7-37 record last season in the National Junior College Athletic Association.
