Pageants are among the longest-running events at the 73rd Annual Western Kentucky State Fair which kicks off Friday.
Doris Anne Russell has been a part of the fair for nearly 40 years and is one of the long-time organizers of the kid, teen, and adult pageants held each year.
She said the pageants will begin Saturday morning and continue through Monday night.

The Miss Western Kentucky State Fair pageant will start at 7:30 Saturday night with Marshall County’s Karlie Holman making one final trip down the runway before crowning the new winner. Last month, Holman was crowned Miss Kentucky Teen USA and will compete in the Miss Teen USA competition on August 4.
Monday night at 7:00, the ninth annual Ms. Plus Pageant will be held in the convention center. Brianna Hyde was last year’s winner in the 30+ category while Danielle Garrison won the 16-29 age group.
