Officials with Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County announced Wednesday that its facility is now open every Monday from 10 AM until 4 PM, and each Monday will also offer a fun learning opportunity for students in the community.

Called “Museum Mondays,” it will start at 10:30 AM June 17 at the Pennyroyal Area Museum, and each week will offer a different experience designed to help young visitors learn about what makes Christian County great.

In the first program, “All About Museums,” students will learn about how the museum remembers history through the exhibits and stories told, and participants will get to write their own stories while producing an exhibit that will become part of the museum.

Then, on Monday, June 24, “All About the Pennyroyal” will focus on a field study of the plants, animals and rocks that make the region so special — including a chance to take home a reminder of the region’s namesake plant.

Furthermore, the museum is able to offer free admission for all students, thanks to a generous partnership with Mayor J.R. Knight and the City of Hopkinsville.

For more information on these programs or anything else, visit online, follow on Facebook, or call at (270) 887-4270. The Pennyroyal Area Museum is located at 217 East 9th Street and is open from 10 AM until 4 PM Monday through Saturday.
