The Elkton native who was the band director at North Hardin High School died in a car crash in Grayson County on Tuesday.

Kentucky State Police said 28-year-old Kelsey Dunn died when she lost control of her vehicle in heavy rain on the Western Kentucky Parkway at the 116-mile marker between the Clarkson and Eastview exits. State police said Dunn crossed the median and entered the path of a westbound tractor-trailer.

Police said Dunn was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured. A portion of the WK was closed for several hours.

Dunn was a graduate of Todd County Central High School and a member of the marching bands at both Murray State University and Western Kentucky University. After college, she was a percussion instructor at Murray High School and served as a guest clinician at bands camps in Todd, Christian, Trigg, and McCracken counties.

At North Hardin, she was the director of bands and was the conductor of the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band. She was instrumental in the North Hardin High Band performing at the July 4th celebration in Washington DC last year.
