Caldwell County Teen Dies from Injuries Sustained in Dawson Road Wreck

A Caldwell County teen who was critically injured in a wreck on the Dawson Road last week has died from her injuries.

According to officials from Dawson Springs Independent Schools, Gracie Harper passed away on Sunday. They said she was one of last year’s graduates and expressed their condolences to the family. They also said counselors will be available at the school.

Harper, a standout basketball player for the Lady Panthers, scored nearly 800 points in her basketball career.

Caldwell County Sheriff Don Weedman reported the single-vehicle wreck occurred in the 17000 block of Dawson Road Wednesday afternoon when Harper lost control of her vehicle, ran off the road, and struck a utility pole and tree. She was cut out of the vehicle by Princeton Fire and Rescue.

Harper was flown from the scene to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville where she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday. She was 19-years old.
