Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland Helping Our Neighbors In Need

Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland is continuing its mission to help those in need across western Kentucky who are food insecure.

Charles Dennis, named executive director in early December, said that while inflation is easing up slowly, those who need assistance remain high.

Across the 42 counties served by the organization, Dennis added they work with around 270 partner agencies to help those in need.

Approximately 1 in 8 Kentucky adults and 1 in 6 children are food insecure.

Dennis said in addition to the day-to-day food distribution, they have other programs that offer assistance.

Dennis added there are three ways to support Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland.

In 2023, Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland distributed 14.9 million meals, rescued 3.2 million pounds of food and redistributed it, and delivered 2.5 million pounds of fresh produce across their service area.
