A building on North Drive in Hopkinsville was badly damaged in a fire Tuesday night.

Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Captain Payton Rogers says they were called to 620 North Drive for a cooking fire and found smoke coming from the structure and a large fire in the kitchen.

Everyone was able to get out of the building uninjured but one cat had to be saved from the building by firefighters.

Rogers says the building had been converted to an apartment with a kitchen inside.

The building was previously The Upper Room House Of Prayer and was converted to an apartment after the church suffered extensive fire damage.
