Mitch Cotthoff, 44, of Lexington

David Mitchell “Mitch” Cotthoff, 44, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on February 22, 2024, following a brief illness. Mitch was born on November 5, 1979, in Louisville, Kentucky, and moved to Hopkinsville, Kentucky, as a young child. He graduated from Hopkinsville High School in 1998 and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Gatton College of Business at the University of Kentucky in 2002. He was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Mitch made a lasting impact on everyone he met. His personality was infectious, and his drive in life was unmatched. There wasn’t a sport he didn’t excel at, from his childhood days on the field to the miles he ran in his adult years. He valued physical activity and friendly competition.

His love for his family, friends, and colleagues will be Mitch’s lasting legacy. We hope his journey and dedication to his sobriety will be an inspiration to many.

Mitch is survived by his parents, David and Suzanne Cotthoff of Hopkinsville; his precious daughter, Lilly, and his sister, Ashley Lilly, and his niece and nephew, Caroline and Hudson, all of Lexington; and his soulmate, Heather Jacoby of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. John and Lillian Cotthoff of Hopkinsville, and Billy and Barbara Mitchell of Princeton.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 5:00–7:00 PM at Milward – Man O ‘War (1509 Trent Boulevard, Lexington, Kentucky); and on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 10:00–11:30 AM at The Cathedral of Christ the King (299 Colony Boulevard, Lexington, Kentucky). The funeral mass will begin at 11:30 AM.
