Hopkinsville Woman Indicted in Drug Overdose Death

A Hopkinsville woman accused of smoking drugs with another woman who later died was indicted Friday by the Christian County Grand Jury on manslaughter and several other charges.

Debbie Elliott was indicted on charges of second-degree manslaughter, trafficking Carfentanil or Fentanyl derivatives, her second offense for possession of cocaine, and three additional counts of possession of a controlled substance, four counts of controlled substance prescription not in an original container, and resisting arrest.

The charges stem from December 8 when Hopkinsville Police reported that Elliott provided Fentanyl and meth to Gladys Henry who was later found dead from a drug overdose on West 20th Street. Police said Elliott admitted to smoking drugs with her before her death. Elliott is also accused of pulling away from officers and kicking one of the officers when she was taken into custody.
