A Lyon County High School student had an extraordinary opportunity to perform at the renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City this past weekend.
17-year old Willa French, of Princeton, is a senior at Lyon County High School and a member of the band program. Band Director Darrenger Huff explained that French was chosen through a national selection process to perform at the iconic Carnegie Hall.
About a month later, he says she received an email that she had been chosen to perform at Carnegie Hall.
Upon her return, Huff recounted some of the experiences French shared about her trip to New York City.
With French performing at Carnegie Hall, this not only means a lot to Huff as the band director and the Lyon County band program but also to the community.
Huff’s most valuable advice to anyone involved in music is to consistently provide encouragement and support.
Huff also conveyed that he is proud of French’s accomplishments.
