Orville Edward “Ed” Neal, 92, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky died at 2:32 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2024, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 19, 2024, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. Brandon Boone officiating. Burial will follow in Powell Cemetery in LaFayette, Kentucky. Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour on Monday at the funeral home.
A native of Christian County, Kentucky he was born on May 30, 1931, the son of the late James Givins Neal and Sally Marie Cantrell Neal. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mae Joyce Fleming Neal in 2019.
He was a charter member of Edgewood Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the Old Electric Plant Board after 37 years.
Ed spent the last two-plus years of his life as a resident of The Homeplace at Midway, a Christian Care Community assisted living facility in Midway, Kentucky. He enjoyed his extended family of 12 and participated in lots of activities. The family appreciates the love and care that he received every day.
Survivors include his son: Orville Edward “Eddie” Neal, Jr. (Jennifer) of Dickson County, TN; his daughter, Sandra Ryan (Harry) of Frankfort, KY; Four grandchildren and Five great-grandchildren.
