Donald “Donnie” Lee Coggins, age 77, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Tennova Healthcare of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a memorial service to be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 12 noon at Maddux Funeral Home in Pembroke, KY. Visitation will be at Maddux Funeral Home in Pembroke on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 11 AM until 12 noon. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Coggins was born on February 21, 1946, in Statesville, NC, the son of the late Alvin Lee and Beatrice Isabell Hobbs Coggins. Don was a truck driver for Hopkinsville Stone and Rose Transportation. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and leatherworking. He loved his dogs, Tia and Abby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin “Teddy” Edward Coggins; his sisters, Pamela Renee Dixon and Archie Bell Johnson; and his son-in-law, Glenn Cossey.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Anita Cain Coggins of Hopkinsville, KY; his son, Alvin Lee “Bo” Coggins of Hopkinsville, KY; his daughters, Kim Cossey of Murray, KY, LeeAnne Carroll (Tim) of Elkton, KY; his eleven grandchildren, Brandon, Ivey, Holly, Nadia, Damien, Landon, Samarah, Tyler, Bryson, Aubree, and Bentley; his six great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Betty Cain; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Lawrence and Missy Cain; his nephew, Archie David Stegar who shared a special relationship; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place • Memphis, TN 38105.
