Mayor Knight Shares Updates On New Apartment Complex, Fire Department

Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight was the featured speaker for the February meeting of the Christian County Agribusiness group.

During the meeting, Mayor Knight shared the city’s 2023 year-in-review and updated information on projects carried into 2024. He said a new apartment complex would be coming into the city this year along Lafayette Road.

Knight added there is expected to be between 60 and 80 units in the new apartment complex.

Additionally, Mayor Knight shared an update on Station 5 for the Hopkinsville Fire Department. The department would be located in a building at 101 Walton Way, off of Crenshaw Boulevard, to serve the southern end of the city limits.

He said the current training center at the department located in downtown Hopkinsville has become too burdensome to utilize.

The building was purchased by the City of Hopkinsville for $2.5 million last February. In November 2022, the city received a feasibility study from PFGW Architects on the needs of the Hopkinsville Fire Department. The report recommended the addition of two fire stations, costing an estimated $19 million.
