In what could be an active year for the governing body, officials with the Cadiz-Trigg County Economic Development Commission appointed Trigg County’s Judge-Executive Stan Humphries as board chair.

The former judge-executive and state senator for District 1 takes the seat over from Pennyrile Rural Electric President/CEO Alan Gates, who kept the position focused during the groundbreaking and construction of Trigg County’s newest spec building.

Humphries said there’s plenty to focus on in the coming months.

This municipality owns a loan balance just over $3.9 million, and for the month of November had expenditures related to the I-24 Business Park Spec Building ribbon cutting, as well as a due diligence study on 230 acres off of Highway 278, near Wabash.

Sharon Butts, who serves as executive director here and associate director for the South Western Kentucky EDC, said that the land parcel serves as an expansion option for prospective businesses, and it’s currently owned by Joe Nichols and Donnie McCraw.

Officials also in attendance Thursday included South Western Kentucky EDC Executive Director Carter Hendricks, Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company President Kevin Atwood, retired Pennyrile Area Development District Executive Director Dan Bozarth, Trigg County Chamber of Commerce Membership Director Beth Sumner and retired Trigg County Schools Superintendent Jim Wallace.

The quorum convened in the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism office, and held executive session pertaining to recruitment activities in the community. No action was taken.
