Christian County Schools Cancel In-Person Classes Friday Due To High Wind Threat

In a precautionary move, Christian County Public Schools has announced the cancellation of in-person classes Friday, due to an anticipated High Wind Warning in the area.

The decision was made to ensure the safety of students and staff, as strong straight-line winds, combined with heavy rains, can pose a significant hazard during transportation on buses.

Instead, Friday will be designated as a Non-Traditional Instruction Day (NTI), requiring students to complete Day 1 of their NTI assignments. Teachers and staff will be readily available to provide assistance or support through email, classroom apps, or texts for any parents or students in need.

Furthermore, all extra-curricular activities, practices, and games scheduled for Friday have been canceled. The district has also announced that there will be no childcare services available and the Inspire Early Learning Academy will also remain closed.

It’s important to note that students and staff will already be off on Monday, January 15, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
