The Hopkinsville Electric System-Energy Net Christmas Parade was a huge success Saturday night after being delayed for a week due to the potential of severe storms December 9.

More than 100 floats and other entries made the traditional parade route from Glass Avenue, along South Main Street to East 14th Street.

The Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority won grand champion with their Polar Express float. Southside Elementary took second place in the float division. Edge Media Group’s carousel won top honors in the business category and Redeemed and Restored won the Spirit award.

The parade was led by Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham, who was chosen as the Grand Marshall. Graham was flanked by a number of first responders who are traditionally part of the parade.

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Toby Hudson said delaying the parade a week did not seem to impact the turnout, with Hudson saying there are several community partners that make the parade possible each year.
