Hopkinsville Police Pursuit Results In Charges Against Hopkinsville Woman

A Hopkinsville woman was charged after she fled from law enforcement at a high rate of speed and struck a home on South Virginia Street Saturday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop 35-year-old Ashley Monghan for speeding on East 18th Street and she fled at speeds of 70 mph disregarding stop signs, traveling through a yard, and striking a brick wall before hitting a home on South Virginia Street.

She reportedly tried to flee on foot and was tased twice before she was taken into custody.

Police say she admitted to drinking alcohol and taking cocaine and drugs before the pursuit. She was arrested and charged with speeding, improperly on the left side of the road, disregarding a stop sign, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, DUI, and two counts of first-degree fleeing or evading police.

She also had warrants for failure to appear and probation violation.
