A Hopkinsville man was killed and a Cadiz man was injured when a truck overturned in Caldwell County Monday evening.
According to Kentucky State Police, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office contacted Post 2 in Madisonville around 5:40 p.m. to investigate a fatal collision on KY 672.
According to state police, a preliminary investigation revealed that 54-year old Jose Palacios was driving a 2022 international truck southbound on KY 672 when for unknown reasons, the truck dropped off the right shoulder. Palacios reportedly overcorrected across both lanes, causing the truck to overturn down a steep embankment on the north side of the roadway.
Palacios was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell County Coroner. A passenger in the truck, 41-year old Jason Chyle of Cadiz was flown from the scene to an area hospital.
An autopsy is scheduled for Palacios on Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing by a Kentucky State Police reconstructionist. The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department, Caldwell County EMS, PHI Air Ambulance, Jones Wrecker Service and the Princeton Fire Department assisted on the scene of the wreck.
