Two Hopkinsville men were charged with trafficking drugs after a traffic stop on East 7th Street Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Scotty Jones after he was seen failing to stop at two stop signs. During the stop, a black container was reportedly dropped out of the vehicle that contained 12 opiate pills. Police say Jones was also found to have marijuana in his pocket.

Jones and his passenger 39-year-old Johnathan Walton were both arrested and charged with trafficking opiates and tampering with physical evidence.

Jones was also charged with disregarding a stop sign and possession of marijuana.
