Court Still Awaiting Mental Health Evaluation In East 18th Street Murder Case

A delay in filing paperwork now means a delay in a mental health evaluation for a Hopkinsville man charged with murder in the spring.

During Wednesday morning’s Christian County Circuit Court session, Judge John Atkins informed Earl Guillemet of the latest delay in his case.

click to download audioGuillemet is charged with the May 3 murder of 59-year-old Dolores Hernandez, who was found shot to death inside a home on East 18th Street. Surveillance video in the area provided to police detailed a silver Chevy truck reportedly driven by Guillemet, who police said was also seen throwing away items while on the move by witnesses.

Guillemet has been a convicted felon since 1997. The gun in question was recovered by police, and he’s also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence.
