Ned Breathitt Dinner Coming To Christian County Saturday

Always in honor of the former Kentucky governor and esteemed Hopkinsville native, the Edward T. “Ned” Breathitt Dinner is planned for 6 PM Saturday at the Pioneers Complex on 904 N. Main Street.

Guest speakers do include Michael Bowman, the Democrat candidate for state treasurer, and Kentucky Democratic Party Chair Colmon Elridge.

Pioneers will be providing a buffet supper alongside a silent auction and the presentation of the Edward T. “Ned” Breathitt service award.

Tickets are $30, and are available through Breathitt Dinner Committee Chairperson Pam Dossett, or at the door. Dossett can be reached by phone at (270) 839-3303.

Breathitt is known mostly for his work at the federal level, helping pass the Civil Rights Act in 1964 during his tenure as Governor. In 1966, the Kentucky Civil Rights Act became the first such doctrine. And in some ways, it was stronger than the federal law preceding it. His life’s focus came through volunteering, environmental conservation, public education, and the advancement of civil rights.

All community members are encouraged to join alongside the Christian County Democratic Executive Committee for the celebration.
