With the fall season quickly approaching, reprieve at the pump could be on the way.
According to the AAA East Central Gas Price Report, petrol prices this week were seven cents lower than last, down to $3.31 a gallon.
This time last year the pinch was similar at $3.30.

In Christian County, it’s between $3.07 and $3.18 in Hopkinsville and $3.29 in Oak Grove.
In Hopkins County, it’s $3.05 in Hanson, $3.19 in Madisonville and $3.24 in Nortonville.
In Lyon County, it’s $3.29 in Eddyville and $3.41 in Kuttawa.
In Todd County, it’s $3.07 in Elkton and $3.37 in Guthrie.
And in Trigg County, it’s ranging from $3.29 to $3.49 in Cadiz.
For other regional locations:
In Calloway County, it’s $3.14 in Hazel and between $3.14 and $3.16 in Murray.
In Crittenden County, it’s $3.29 in Marion.
And in Livingston County, it’s $3.39 in Salem and $3.42 in Grand Rivers.
It’s $3.57 in Louisville, $3.43 in Bowling Green, $3.29 in Paducah, $3.19 in Owensboro and $3.11 in Elizabethtown.
AAA officials indicate demand has been moderate, and fewer drivers are visiting the pump. The national average fell three cents since last week to reach $3.81. That’s the same as it was a month ago, and two cents higher than this window in 2022.
Through new data from the Energy Information Administration, gas demand rose slightly from 8.41 to 8.62 million barrels per day last week; however, it is below last year’s rate of 8.83 million barrels per day during this time in September 2022.
The data indicates growing supply amid tepid demand has pushed prices lower, while fluctuating oil prices have limited seasonal price decreases typically seen as the country settles into the lower-demand fall driving season.
At the close of last Wednesday’s trading, West Texas Intermediate increased by $3.29 to settle at $93.71.
