Christian County MAC Chili Cook-Off, Cornbread Challenge Coming Soon

Officials with the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department are partnering with the Christian County Military Affairs Committee for the annual MAC Chili Cook-off & Batter Capital of the World Cornbread Challenge.

It’s set to return Friday, September 22, where it will be Freedom Friday in downtown Hopkinsville. Guests will be able to sample award-winning chili and enjoy the last Sounds at Six of the season.

Teams from the local area will compete for a $1,000 cash prize for the best chili of the day, and a secondary prize of $250 will be presented by the Batter Capital of the World for the best cornbread.

Additional prizes for second and third place, best booth theme and crowd favorites will also be granted.

The winner of the competitions will be announced, with prizes awarded, around 7 evening of.

Chili teams can still register until Friday, September 15, with free registration available for military squads.

Bottomless Chili Tastings will begin at 5-7:30 PM.

For those interested in voting for the Crowd Favorite Chili, sample cups are available at no charge to military members and $5 per person for civilians. Guests can enjoy the themed and decorated booths of the competitors and cast their votes for their favorite teams.

Food trucks and adult beverages will also be on-site for the start of Sounds at Six, and the KY Army National Guard will have their Inflatable Obstacle Course available for crowd participation.
