Harold Stooksbury, 89, of Hopkinsville

Funeral services for 89-year old Clifton Harold Stooksbury of Hopkinsville, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at First Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in New Ebenezer Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church.

Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of New Market, Tennessee he was born on March 21,1934 to the late Fred Talbert Stooksbury and Mary Sally Palmer Stooksbury. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Agricultural and where he was also a member of the UT Livestock Judging Team that won national honors in 1957. Upon graduation, he continued working in the field of agriculture where he eventually owned and operated Cherokee Wholesale Products- a company that manufactured bagged fertilizer. He retired from business in 1994 and then became a full time farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church for 53 years and served as a deacon, on the Board of the Christian County Soil Conservation, and a member of the Christian County Cattlemen’s Association.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years: Loyce Collins Stooksbury, his son David (Amy) Stooksbury of Elkton, Kentucky; his daughter Dena Stamper of Hopkinsville, his brother Walter (Ilene) Stooksbury of New Market, Tennessee, his sister Mary Sandra Webb of Nashville, Tennessee, his grandchildren, Collins (Kendra) Stooksbury, Palmer Stooksbury, Ben Stamper, Grant Stamper and twenty nieces and nephews.
