GOOD NEWS – Warren Named Third District KMEA Teacher Of The Year

Officials with Christian County Public Schools announced this week that Calvin Warren has been awarded the Third District Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) High School Music “Teacher of the Year” honor.

Warren is the assistant band director and percussion leader at Christian County High School.

The award honors those who exemplify teaching excellence in music education.

Throughout Warren’s 15 years of teaching, his ensembles have received distinguished ratings, performed at the KMEA State Conference, performed in KMEA State Finals, qualified and seated high in various honor band clinics, as well as participated in All-State Bands.

Warren is an active percussion arranger and sound designer for many area high schools in the region. He remains in demand as a clinician for sound and audio for the pageantry arts and as a percussion consultant.

He’s a native of Hopkinsville, and prior to his appointment at Christian County, he as Director of Bands at Todd County Central, where they were consistent KMEA state Semifinalists and received consistent distinguished ratings at concert band assessments.

In 2007, Warren earned a bachelor’s of music education from Murray State University.
