Indiana Man And Woman Charged With Trafficking Drugs In Hopkinsville

An Indianapolis, Indiana man and woman were charged with trafficking drugs after a traffic stop on East 18th Street in Hopkinsville Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a truck driven by 63-year-old Raymond Smith after being alerted by city cameras of the tag on the truck being stolen.

During the stop, a crack pipe, marijuana, 33 grams of crack cocaine, Psilocybin, drug paraphernalia, and a gun that had been reported stolen in Georgia were all reportedly located in the vehicle.

Smith’s passenger 33-year-old Amber McDowell was also found to have active warrants for being a fugitive from another state.

They were both arrested and charged with receiving stolen property (firearm), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of marijuana, and trafficking cocaine. Smith was also charged with operating on a suspended or revoked license and a second charge of receiving stolen property.
