Casey Jones Distillery Brings Home ‘Best Of Show’ Award

Casey Jones Distillery won the ‘Best of Show’ award from the American Craft Spirits Association in the 2023 Heartland Whiskey Competition.

The competition was open to craft whiskeys from all 50 states that incorporate corn in their mash bill. Whiskeys from 20 “Heartland” states competed for various awards, including Best of Show, Best of State, and Top Farmer-Distiller. The judging took place in St. Louis, Missouri, in early August, with ACSA facilitating the process.

Casey Jones Distillery from Christian County took home the award for its Casey Jones Single Barrel Original 4 Grain Wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Additionally, the bourbon took home the 2023 Heartland Whiskey Competition Best of State Award for Kentucky and received the top score in the Four Grain Whiskey category.

Tobacco Barn Distillery of Hollywood, Maryland, won the Top Farmer-Distiller for its Single Barrel Bourbon.

The competition saw a significant increase in participation, with entries from all 50 states. Only 12 whiskeys were awarded a gold medal, while 74 received silver and 47 received bronze.
