Andrea Craft, 60, of Laurel, Maryland

Andrea Louise Duncan Craft, 60, of Laurel, Maryland, and formerly of Hopkinsville, died Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, Maryland. She succumbed to complications from multiple sclerosis following a 33-year-long battle with the disease.

A native of Hopkinsville, Andrea was born on October 7, 1962. She was the daughter of the late William Graham Duncan IV and Mary Alice Major Duncan. Andrea was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. She was an elder and a deacon in the Presbyterian church.

In 1984, Andrea met the love of her life, David Craft. They married in Hopkinsville on August 2, 1985. Andrea and David were the exemplars of a loving and committed marriage. They moved across the country multiple times, endured long hours of parenting and working while David was in graduate school, and navigated the ever-changing challenges of a significant chronic illness together. Andrea and David raised three daughters: Mary Beth, Susan, and Mallory.

Throughout her life, Andrea enjoyed horseback riding, playing tennis and swimming, and creating scrapbooks for her loved ones. But most of all, Andrea had a passion for taking care of her family. She enjoyed volunteering her time by helping at her children’s schools, leading Girl Scout troops, and participating in events at church. Andrea loved game nights with her family and taking long road trips with David and the girls. She enjoyed simple pleasures in life, like chocolate ice cream and re-watching her favorite movies. Andrea was easily recognized by her infectious smile punctuated by deep dimples. She was known for her generous spirit and her compassion for others.

Survivors include her husband: David Craft; her daughters: Susan (Garrett) Astary of Silver Spring, MD; Mallory (Christopher) Daniels of Leesburg, VA; and Mary Beth Staude of Florence, KY; her brothers: William Graham (Kelly) Duncan V of Owensboro, KY and Rives Major (Jan) Duncan of Colorado Springs, CO; and her grandchildren: Chayse Daniels, Cora Daniels, Vivienne Daniels, Alexandria Astary, and Audra Astary.
