Additional Crop Diseases Being Observed In Western Kentucky

Angular Leaf Spot

Angular Leaf Spot, Southern Rust, and Red Crown Rot are beginning to show up on crops across western Kentucky.

Christian County Ag Extension Agent Matt Futrell tells Your News Edge that Southern Rust has been reported in recent weeks.

Futrell adds that producers of dark-fire tobacco are beginning to see more Angular Leaf Spots.

Futrell attributes the increase in diseases to recent rainfall.

Futrell adds that crop variety in the fields may decrease the amount of disease.

Futrell says some producers in western Kentucky have lost entire crops due to these diseases. If you have any questions, contact your local County Ag Extension Office.
