Marie Hester, 77, of Montgomery, Alabama

Marie Virginia Hester, 77, Montgomery, AL, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at her home of natural causes.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Emmanuel officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Lamb Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, at Lamb Funeral Home with the rosary service to begin at 6:00 p.m. with Father Christopher Kight officiating.

A native of Santa Barbara, CA, she was born on August 10, 1945, the daughter of the late Frank Costa and the late Lydia (Lizek) Costa.

Marie was a dedicated member at St. Bede’s Catholic Church, Montgomery, AL, and previously a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. She volunteered and delivered food for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. She was also a volunteer at the Montgomery Humane Society. She was a member of the Archibald Center and the Jarrow Club. Wife, mother, grandmother, and friend were many of the titles she loved. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Charles Brandon Hester, as she traveled along his side for 27 years while he traveled in the military. They were married for 53 years. Marie was an avid domestic and worldwide traveler with her friends and tour groups.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Brandon Hester, Montgomery, AL; her sons, Christopher Brandon Hester, Overland Park, KS, Mark Brandon Hester, Montgomery, AL; her daughters, Heather Leigh (Jeff) Van Dyke, Shawnee, KS, Amy Elizabeth Hester, Bonner Springs, KS; her grandchildren, Dylan Thomas Van Dyke, Whitney Elizabeth Van Dyke, and Jackson Charles Van Dyke.
