Bud Hudson League Seeking Donations For New Equipment

Coaches Marc Clark and Zach Self spoke to the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club at their meeting last Thursday in support of the Bud Hudson Youth Football League.

The non-profit league is seeking $11,000 in donations to provide their student athletes with the needed equipment. Their goal is to outfit 125 students; however, there is currently only enough equipment for 83 players per grade. Distributed across all teams in 2nd-6th grades, there would only be 16 players per team.

Sponsorships and donations will help purchase equipment and keep registration fees affordable, according to Clark. In the long term, he wants the league to become the most economical youth program in the community. He says football is about equal opportunity.

The league also hopes to offer flag football in the spring as well as a girls’ league. He adds girls are also welcome to sign up for football.

The Bud Hudson League has been supporting student sports in Christian County since 1951. Clark says being in a small community is an advantage.

After the presentation, the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club presented the coaches with a check for $1,000 toward new equipment for the league, moving them one step closer to their goal.
