Monday afternoon, the Christian County Leadership Class celebrated the conclusion of this year’s class project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Men2Be house in Hopkinsville.
Leadership Class Representative Anna Goode says the project consisted of remodeling two rooms at the Bryan Street home.
click to download audioAccording to class member Nancy Askew, the Class raised $12,000 for the project, $2,000 more than their initial goal. Askew adds they experienced some weather-related setbacks during the process.

click to download audioMen2Be is a non-profit organization that started just three years ago-it’s what Killebrew calls a “Covid baby”. He says they aim to create an environment where boys can become responsible, respectful young men.
click to download audioOne of the priorities for their future is a new facility, according to Killebrew. He says Men2Be currently serves 70 boys, and they have to be split into groups to fit into their current facility on Bryan Street. However, they won’t let that stop them from providing for the mentees. Killebrew says they plan to take a group of boys to Alabama State University and the Legacy Museum in September, and another group to St. Louis.
Men2Be will also celebrate its annual gala on August 5th in Oak Grove.
