The Edge Media Group wrapped up a record-breaking 2023 ‘Cooling Our Communities’ campaign Friday afternoon at the WKDZ/WHVO Studios.
Assistant Program Director Kimberly Allen said that over 80 fans were donated during the month-long event.
During the finale – the Back2Back Foundation, founded by country singer/songwriter Brice Long, presented a $500 donation. Brent Gilkey with the organization said that donating to the cause made sense.
Allen added the importance of fans is felt, especially when temperatures reach dangerous levels like they did Friday.
The fans will be picked up by employees of Pennyrile Allied Community Services and distributed to the elderly community who needs them the most.
Allen thanked all of the community partners who stepped up with this year’s project.
